Proofing: Markup Tools

Click on the Add Feedback panel at the top right of the Proofing Workspace page. The Markup Tools appear below the Add Feedback field.

The Markup Tools are used to mark up Assets and vary depending on the Asset type you have open in the Proofing Workspace.

Markup Tools for Graphics

Draw Tool

The Draw Tool is used to draw on the Asset. Use Tool Options to change the Size of the drawing pencil (line thickness); to change the Opacity of your drawing; and the Color.

Region Tool

The Region Tool is used to draw a rectangle on the Asset you want to draw attention to or highlight for image Cropping. Drag the corner handles of the rectangle until the area is the size you want.

Callout Tool

The Callout Tool is used to create an arrow. Callout arrows are useful when you want to single out a particular area of an Asset.

Image Tool

The Image Tool is used to upload a reference Asset from your computer to your Proofing Workspace screen. Adding an Asset can visually support your comment. Drag the corner handles of the added Asset to change the size and shape. Use Tool Options to change the Opacity of the image.

Reference Tool

The Reference Tool is used to draw attention to a section of an Asset and link it to a second Asset within the Project, or to a URL. Draw a box on a portion of the asset to indicate where the comment applies. Drag the corner handles of the rectangle until the area is the size you want.

Use Tool Options to Name your Reference and Link to Asset. Browse and select your Project Asset file or to Name your Reference and Link to one or more URLs.

Pan Tool

The Pan Tool is used to select existing markup to move, adjust or delete it. Or to move around the asset without adding markup.

Delete Tool

The Delete Tool is used to delete selected, or active Markups on the page. Your Markup is active if it is surrounded by a dotted line. Use the Delete tool to delete it.

Markup Tools for Text

When a text asset is opened in the Proofing Workspace, there are additional navigation tools as well as a unique set of text markup tools made available in addition to the tools that were available for Graphic Markup.

Text Navigation

The far left section allows page selection.

The top allows Up/Down navigation, or the ability to jump to a particular page.

The options in the top mid right allows the option to adjust the view to allow you to scroll from page to page, single page viewing, or leverage two page viewing.

Copy Review Tool

The Copy Review Tool is used to draw attention to sections of text on your text asset. Selecting this tool activates a secondary group of tools on your screen. For each of the below options, add a comment about the selected text in the Comment dialogue box.

Highlight: is used to draw attention to sections of text by marking them with a vivid, translucent color anywhere on a text page.

Insert: is used to draw attention to a spot where text should be inserted. The Comment dialogue box will populate with Insert " " as you use the tool.

Replace: is used to strike through text and draw attention to where text should be replaced. The Comment dialogue box will auto populate with Replace with " " as you use the tool.

Delete: is used to strike through text. The Comment dialogue box will auto populate with Delete " " as you use the tool.

Underline: is used to draw attention to sections of text by marking it with a green line below it.

Text Search Tool

Use the Text Search Tool to search for a keyword in text based Assets.

Keyword matches become highlighted to support feedback and comments associated with them.

Click on the Next and Previous options in the Text Search dialogue box to move between each match on text pages.

You can simply publish a comment, but the Text Search Tool also allows you to provide references to external websites or to other Assets within your project. This is useful when you want to highlight excerpts within one text based Asset that relate to content in a reference Asset.

Link to Asset: Click Browse to link to the other assets. The list of assets in this project will populate and you can select one or more assets to link to.

Click Select and you will see the assets populate below the Browse button. For assets with multiple pages you can specify what page you would like to link to.

Link to URL: Type a web page to link to inside the URL box. Click on the Add button. Add as many Reference URLs as needed.

Click on the x beside the URL to delete a link added in error.

Click Publish to make your comment visible with the search, previous next cycle and links.
