Overview

1. New Item

The New Item section contains items you can add to the dashboard via drag and drop:

  • Report—Select this option to start creating a new report. See Using the Report Editor article for more information about using the report builder.
  • Key Performance Indicator—A Key Performance Indicator (KPI) provides information for a single metric. KPIs are typically used to display important business metrics so that it’s easy to identify current project, financial, and resource health at a glance and whether things are trending positively or negatively. Dashboard viewers can set up an alert to be notified via email when a KPI value goes above or below a specific value.
  • Attribute Filter—This is a dashboard filter that allows dashboard viewers to filter down the data in the reports on the dashboard.
Note: A date range filter is automatically available on new dashboards and does not need to be added manually.

2. Saved Reports

The Saved Reports section contains existing reports that you can add to the dashboard via drag and drop. You can hover over a report to see its full name. You can see a list of reports created by me and all. Use the search bar to find a report by name.

3. Dashboard Filters

The filter bar is where you add and remove filters from the dashboard via drag and drop.

Note: A date range filter is automatically available on new dashboards and does not need to be added manually.

You can set up default selections for a filter from the filter bar. This is useful if you want to display specific filtered data when a dashboard first loads and also provide users with the ability to change the filter selections.

The following options are available in the upper-right of the dashboard:

  • Cancel—Exit the dashboard editor without saving changes.
  • Save—Save changes to the dashboard.
  • Delete—In the More menu, permanently delete the dashboard.
Note: When you delete a dashboard from the edit dashboard page, the dashboard will not be removed from the Dynamic Dashboards page. We recommend deleting dashboards from the Dynamic Dashboards page. See the How to Delete a Dashboard section in the Managing Dashboards article.

  • Metric—Change the metric the KPI displays.
  • Filter By—Change which dashboard filters affect the KPI.
  • Comparison—Change the comparison period and whether to display increases in the metric as green or red.
